Sam Singer is headed west. The Florida native will leave the Southeast and play at California.

Sam Singer made a big decision Tuesday evening.

The Coconut Grove (Fla.) Ransom Everglades standout committed to California, becoming their third commitment in the 2013 class. Singer confirmed the news to

"I'm a Cal Bear," Singer said. "Just committed."

"After getting back rom Harvard I realized that Cal was the best situation for me and I'm really excited about getting out there," Singer told

Singer entertained interest from a number of schools including Richmond, Harvard, North Carolina State and Davidson.

"I just like the fit and the PAC-12," Singer told "Playing for coach [Mike] Montgomery is something I really wanted to do."

"I just figured I couldn't pass up the academic opportunity and the opportunity to play in the PAC-12 even though it's 3,000 miles away," he added.

Singer, a three-star prospect, is a 6-foot-4 guard that played both guard positions for his AAU team -- Florida Gulf Coast. He's skilled, shoots the ball well from long range and sees the floor well.

Singer joins five-star wing Jabari Bird and talented shooter Jordan Mathews to make up Montgomery's current 2013 class.

The Bears now turn their full attention to four-star post player Marcus Lee, who is down to California and Kentucky.
