The Richmond Spiders are establishing a little bit of a pipeline to the city of Memphis. They landed a quality guard in Kendall Anthony in the 2011 class and now again in 2013 they have landed a pledge out of Memphis, this from Josh Jones.
Jones has starred for Memphis (Tenn.) Central, and now he feels he can bring his skills at 6-foot-5 to Richmond and have an immediate impact.
“I went there over the summer on an unofficial this weekend I went on an official,” said Jones. “I really got to know the players well and I felt comfortable. I feel the education is great and that I can have a good career at Richmond.”
He continued, “I think I played well with the players and I just feel comfortable.”
Because of the style that Richmond plays, Jones felt the fit was ideal for his game.
“I am a combo guard with a high IQ, and Richmond their offense is guard oriented with a lot of passing and cutting,” said Jones. “I feel I can be an asset for the program and I play well off of other players which is how they play.”
Jones also had interest from New Mexico State, St. Louis, TCU, Murray State, and Southern Illinois.
